Changing

Changing

Well, who would've thought that we'd have an African American as president in our lifetime?  I'm sure no one thought that.  I'm also sure everyone has their own thoughts and opinions about it and that's fine.  It is still a free country.  I, for one, don't mind at all.  This is a country of equal opportunity for all citizens.  So, why not have an African American govern this nation?  The United States is the greatest country on Earth and I'm proud to live here and be free to choose.  I'm also proud to have the opportunity to do whatever I want to do and that includes being president if I so desire.  You may not agree with the choice that this country made, but try to be open minded and give him a chance.  Mr. Obama certainly can't be any worse than Mr. Bush.  On the other hand, he may restore the country economically.  We may be able to afford to live again.  To travel and to eat and medicate ourselves again without worrying where the money is going to come from.  Just give him a chance and if he fails, you can choose to not re-elect him in 4 years.  That's the beauty of living in the United States.

Life is too short

Life is too short

A good friend of my parents' passed away a couple of days ago.  I met her a couple of times, but I didn't know her well.  What I did know was that she was a beautiful person with a wonderful sense of humor and a smile just as wonderful.  She was still young in her 60's and that adds to the grief.

Life is so short.  None of us knows what will happen tomorrow or the next day or even this day we're living out.  What I do know is that we should never take each other for granted.  If we love someone, we should tell them because it just might be the last time they hear it.  We shouldn't hold grudges or be angry over petty arguments.  We should learn to say "I'm sorry" and mean it.  We should forgive as we would want to be forgiven.

Life is too short to pretend someone doesn't exist because you don't agree with them or you can't understand why they did what they did.  At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter anyway, does it?

As I think of my dad's friend going home to be with God, I'm going to pray that God gives me the strength to forgive those that have hurt me and that He helps them overcome their issues so they can learn to forgive as well.

Welcome to my life

Welcome to my life

Hello and welcome to my life.  I have to say, it isn't much of a life.  It's boring sometimes, but it's my life and I'm happy with it.

My name is Lora.  I've been married for 17 years to Steve.  He's my 2nd husband, but I won't hold that against him.  He's a good, kind man.  We've had our problems and our triumphs.  We've had our ups and downs, but I wouldn't trade him for all the gold in Fort Knox.

I'm the mother of 3 but only 1 lives at home.  Josh is my baby and my only boy.  He's 16 now and I wonder where the time went.  It seems time flies when you have kids.  One day they're babies and you turn your back on them for just a second and they've grown beyond belief.  That's my Josh.

I'm also the mother to Simba.  She's my fur baby kitten.  She's silly and aggravating at the same time.  She's almost 5 months old now but she's "mommy's little queenie".  I love her as if she were a human baby.

I work at home to earn a living.  I put in some long days it seems, but I know they aren't in reality.  I like my job and like the fact that I only need to go from one room to the other to start my work day.

Steve and I struggle to give Josh everything he needs and wants.  He mostly gets what he needs.  Everyone is doing that lately.  With the price of gas, we can't afford to travel anywhere.  I love my family and vow to do whatever it takes to keep us together and going.

That's my life for today.  Maybe tomorrow will be different.  Maybe a little more exciting, boring or just about the same.  Either way, it's my life and I like it and want to share it with you.

Until next time, love, laugh and live life like it's your last day.
